Orphan Sunday!

Hi, there!

;

This is not really the most “normal” of posts here on the blog, most of the time we talk about life in Ethiopia, the good-bad-ugly, of raising a family here and how blessed we are to have forty five kids who are in our new families that we created here from widows and orphans. We love what we do, and are not shy to write all about it. Today though, this post is a bit different because it’s Orphan Sunday!

;

Yay!

;

And that means that people from many different churches all over the world are getting to hear a special presentation about Bring Love In and the new families that are being created over here in Ethiopia.

;

And so, we figure we better introduce ourselves since so many of you are likely coming here for the first time.

;

So, Hi! How are you? We are super happy that you are here, and want to be the first to welcome you to the journey. None of us are superstars, or even all that well behaved, but through God’s amazing grace, good things are happening. In the past four months 45 orphans have come home to seven new forever families, families led by widows that we have found through the local churches here in Ethiopia. Children who were once orphans are being given hope, women who were once at the bottom of society are rising to the challenge of bringing up a generation of solid Christian leaders who will change their culture for God. I could go on for hours about how blessed we are to watch this all happening, and how amazing it is to see all of these children adjusting to being in a family once again. For many of them they have spent five or more years in the government orphanage, so there are not words to describe how wonderful it is for them to be loved in this way.

Before you get any further we need to tell you… Bring Love In is not an organization (although we do have legal 501c3 status in America, and are a registered NGO in Ethiopia) we see ourselves as a collective. People from all over the world who are coming together to see change happen in Ethiopia, to see a new way of helping orphans birthed, one that not only solves a problem today, but also looks down the road and creates leaders who will stop the cycle that created the problem in the first place. We are about big futures, about changing things on a large scale.

;

Yeah, we know, dreaming like this is a bit dangerous, and at times even absurd sounding, but if we won’t do it who will? We believe the time has come for solutions that will make a real dent in the orphan crisis that haunts the world today. We see a huge problem, millions of children orphaned, and we believe God is calling us to do something about it.

;

But we can’t dream like this alone. (I guess we can, but it won’t be that productive will it?) And so we are inviting you to be a part of this collective, we want to ask you to see yourself here, to add into the solution. Yes, it takes financial resources to do what we do, and we are constantly praying for those to come in, but we want you to think beyond just money, and ask yourself what you can do to help create solutions with us.

;

What role will you fill? What are you gifted with that will help make leaders out of former orphans in Ethiopia? Your voice is worth something, will you use it?

;

Lastly, (I promise I won’t keep you on this page long, there are many other parts of this site that we hope you will explore) we are blessed to be able to announce that we are not looking for more forever family sponsors today. You can read more about the season we are coming into next, and why we are not taking more kids into families right now by clicking here, but to sum it up; We feel God calling us to focus on creating a solid foundation, this is a model for orphan care that clearly works well in this country, one that the government has gotten behind and wants us to grow within, and today we are taking a few months to ensure that the screws are all tightened, and the right supports are in place for our mothers so that we can grow even more in the coming season, while still building something that will stand the test of time. Be sure to watch the site here as we will be re-opening our Forever Family Sponsorships again soon.

;

Ok, no new forever family sponsorships are open now, what are the current financial needs then?

;

We are glad you asked! Here they are.

;

  1. Orphan Prevention Sponsorships. We have identified fifty families in our community who are at risk of loosing their children due to lack of resources. Each of these families lives on somewhere around a dollar a day, and we want to come along side them and ensure that they have the resources and support they need to keep their children home, and rise up out of poverty. We are looking for people who will give $35 per month to sponsor one of these families and help us keep these kids from becoming orphans. Click here to sign up and sponsor a family.
  2. General Administrative Budget. We are coming up short each month on the general expenses side of things, so far this need has been met by one time donations, but we are praying for people who will give towards this need to help Bring Love In sustain, and to be honest to help us focus more on the work of creating families instead of worrying about where the next month support will come from. Click here to set up a recurring donation.
  3. Educational Tools. We are finding that many of the children who are coming into our families are far behind where they should be academically, we want to put a computer in each of the forever family houses, and hire a few tutors to help them get up to speed. Click here to give towards helping our kids get up to speed with their education.

;

Ok, there you have it, a few ways that you can help out financially Really though, we are just blessed you are reading, and want you to know that the invitation is open for you to become a part of this. You are wanted here!

Really, we are serious. Will you use your-voice, your-connections, your-resources to help? More leaders are waiting to be raised up, and you are just what they need to get started.

;

Thanks for visiting, we hope to see you again soon. (No really, we post all the time so don’t go far, come on back to see how things are going on this side of the world)
