Tales From The Flip Side

The first post is always the hardest… What do you write?  I mean really, how do you open things up and start a new blog?  I guess there isn’t really any one thing you are supposed to say, its just the wide open feeling of that very first post, the one that people will always come back to and see how this whole thing got started…  It’s a lot of pressure, you know what I mean?

I guess I could start by telling you what this blog is going to be all about, give you an idea of why you might want to come here and what it is that you will find.   Yeah, lets start there.

This blog is the flip side of Drawn From Water.  That organization you have heard about in Ethiopia, the one that is passionate about saving orphans.  This blog is the personal side, the less organization and more raw real side of that work. This blog is the family journey that Levi and Jessie are on with their four kids in Ethiopia.  You will be getting not as much of the “overall direction” messages here and more of the “our kids are really not liking Ethiopian food right now” or the “I can’t believe that naked dude is back walking up and down our street again”.  We have been feeling for a while that there was a lot that we wanted to share on the Drawn From Water blog but that it was just not the place for it.  The fact of the matter is, doing the work that we do over here is an intense personal journey of learning and stretching, and we feel like we need another venue to share and at times vent about what its like for us as a family and how we are coping.

So we hope you will join in with us, we hope you will come along for the ride and stand with us to help save these children who never deserved what they were dealt in life.
